About Drama Club
Drama club meets Monday afternoons from 3:15 to 4:15 in room 220 and is open to all students wishing to participate in one or more aspects of theatre. This includes behind-the-scenes work such as lighting, sound, set design and construction, make-up, costuming, and poster and program design.
The purpose of the club is to support theatre at Billings Senior High School, through participation in the mainstage plays and fundraising. In addition to providing opportunities to be onstage, the theatre department participates in community outreach programs, face-painting and fortune-telling at Saturday Live, scaring people at the Corn Maize Haunted House, and even has been known to provide princesses for birthday parties!
Billings Senior High School is also a member of the International Thespian Society. Thespian Troupe #555 is our chapter of the ITS, which is an honorary organization for high school theatre students. Troupe 555 has elected officers and meets once per month. According to the Thespian Troupe Handbook, "The Thespian troupe is a subset of the theatre arts program. It is the student honor society, a separate student organization, and membership is earned. Any student may be a member of the theatre program, but only students who have been officially inducted and registered with the EdTA national office are members of the theatre program and the International Thespian Society...students earn induction points by participating in an affiliated school's theatre program and accumulating points based on the quality and quantity of their work in theatre." Students who are members of ITS are eligible to perform and attend workshops at the International Thespian Convention in Missoula in February.
